IUCN Redlist: Critically Endangered

All photos in habitat at the type locality. Possibly the most rare and imperiled of all Dendrobatid frogs. This species is restricted to the type locality which is a very narrow band of forest at a location severely encroached by agriculture.

Represented are an adult male and female. Though multiple calling males were heard in the area, individual frogs are impossible to find. These two frogs were the result of 50+ man hours of searching the locality.

This pitviper is endemic for Palawan and found in primary forests at lower elevations. Adult specimen found along a river in primary forest of Cleopatra's Needle, one of the most impressive forests in the Philippines and in need of conservation.
