I thought it worth recording this sighting because it was at just after midnight. I don't think I was roosting here because the position was fairly exposed and it moved its head several times in the couple of minutes I observed it. I'm becoming interested in the night time behaviour of Pied Currawongs as I've heard them calling in the middle night several times in the last few months.

This Rakali was discovered tangled in fishing line and unable to make it to the riverbank to rest. Being nocturnal,I hate to think how long this creature was treading water unable to get to land.I rescued it by extending a tree branch into the water for it to climb on to. The Rakali returned to nature safe and sound albeit exhausted.
