Not sure what is going on but this is the fourth birder that I know of who has had a phoebe perch on their binoculars or on their person at Commons Ford.
I saw near Windermere Estate, Munnar, Idukki, Kerala

a) The jumping spider resemblance is insane. b) The range of sizes among adults is insane. What is up with this fly.
rooivlerkspreeu/red-winged starling/onychognathus morio on Klipspringer [Oreotragus oreotragus]
A truly amazing encounter with one of the world's most enigmatic ungulates. When I first saw this Pygmy Hippo, it was resting on the ground a few meters off the trail, covered with sweat droplets. After about an hour of waiting, it got up and slowly walked through the forest. It did not appear to mind my presence.
Found 1 very unique juvenville P. regilla (potentially an albino) amoung hundreds of other junenvilles, all at the edge of one of the experimental ponds.
Found around 6pm.
None other of this kind were observed.
First record from here. Hundreds of Xenopus tadpoles present, probably both X.laevis and X.gilli. Adult X.laevis observed in the vicinity. Blackwater Vlei, temporary.
Finally, something that gets me excited about Bullfrogs again...
I stopped for a Spring Peeper, and then noticed a yellow object with a red reflection, a ways down the road. I assumed it was some trash, and then realized as I got closer that reflection was an eye shine.
Peculiar behaviour. Got a few quick photos before they (presumably) woke up and flew off.

This Torresian Crow was getting his butt kicked by this pair of Willie Wagtails.
A green chiton attached to a half crab. We observed this alien looking commensal beast while undertaking an intertidal survey on the reefs off Hawera. It made us jump when we first turned over the rock.
outch! 😆
also, almost the first bird on my 'indoors'-list
