Penguin Island is a breeding colony for a number of sea birds as terns, gulls, and pelicans are currently breeding there. Many returned from fishing with fish similar in size to the one pictured so stocks seem good to support so many birds. The island is surrounded by shallow sand bars and extensive sea grass.
