Saw heaps of these all over Sarah Island, along with what I thought were wasps. I now think they were sawflies and their larvae given their proximity.
Found travelling over Agapanthus sp. but not eating it. Nearby are Melaleuca, Syzygium, Hakea, Acacia, Polyscias, Pittosporum Lomandra and others. Couldn't find where it came from.
Found at the base of a Blueberry Ash tree not far from vegetable patch. The vegetable parch doesn't have cabbages or related plants
