In clumps of decaying elodea
Merismopedia from surface water bottle sample from canal about 0.75 miles in from Caloosahatchee River. HAB in progress but improving, dominant organism in sample is Microcystis aeruginosa.
Dolichosperum (AKA, Anabaena), a cyanobacterium, found in live grab surface bottle sample from canal off the Caloosahatchee River in Cape Coral, FL.
Planktothrix, a cyanobacterium, from water sample from canal off Caloosahatchee River.
Pediastrum duplex, a freshwater green algae (not a cyanobacterium).
Good example of Lyngbya, a cyanobacterium, showing empty sheath on the end.

Not very common on a scale of 1-5 (low - high) this would be a 2.

Pond opened March 27, 2018. Salt water entered the pond on April 6. Salinity increased over pre-opened conditions (0.211 to 1.28psu). Current salinity is 0.7psu, Excavated channel low clarity and visible algae present.

Saw a streaky bloom on an oxbow off of the Arkansas River. Collected a sample - have only looked at it live so far, but saw a lot of what looked like Raphids...? Maybe some Anabaenopsis, but chains were very small and didn't seem to contain chloroplasts. Would love some input
