Growing on a long dead stump. Deep purple almost black. Veil on the young, deep yellow gills with darker shades.
Growing in woodchip placed as mulch.
Fibrous cap surface, veil present when young. With willow on edge of stream. White gills when younger turning light brown with age.
Growing in understory of recent native plantings close to stream. Unusual for mycena in that gills had dark colors. Close inspection showed white powder on gills.
