Spotted across May’s Pond near the bison fence line - I couldn’t get a picture as it flew away, but as it ascended I was able to definitively identify it as a great blue heron.
I am not an expert, just a budding enthusiast! I am pretty sure it’s gay feather, just not sure on the specific species. Found in the prairie loop at the Armand Bayou Nature Center.
Feeling lucky to see this magnificent bird twice in a week! It was perched on the Armand Bayou Hannah building ramp railing near the marsh plant nursery, calling out softly. After some movement by others, it flew up into the trees right at the entrance.
