Widespread and abundant in open Sphagnum bog
Local and uncommon in black spruce forest with Sphagnum ground cover, growing out of small hummocks (as the species does). With abundant Carex trisperma. Unexpected, as I have only ever observed it in open Sphagnum bogs with limited trees. This site was rather interesting, having "open bog" flora while being completely treed.
Filiform-involute leaves less than 1 mm wide.
I think. Much smaller, more delicate version of C. trisperma.

Forested dune with Quercus rubra, Tilia americana, Acer rubrum, Staphylea trifolia, and Prunus virginiana.
Did not use GPS to position, but should be somewhat accurate. This healthy looking little colony is right on the wet lowland part of a portage trail. Some plants seem to grow on an old moss-covered portage timber log placed to help people cross the wet trail portion.
