This Spot-winged Glider, probably a migrant, had roosted on the rim of my backporch floodlight. I grabbed it to take a few pics, and it returned to the lamp to snooze away the rest of the night.
I've seen hundreds of these all over Texas, but this is the first one I've been able to document properly. The rest have all been gliding past.

Maybe the Spot-winged Glider, Pantala hymenaea?

This dragonfly's body was about 1.5 inch long. It was a chestnut brown from a distance with a spot on its hind wing. It was resting on a small twig of a crepe myrtle tree. It flew away when I got close.
