I've seen more developed eyelash cups before, so since these were so small and don't really have lashes extending beyond the perimeter, I thought at first they were bits of plastic or something synthetic.

The one there on the right had that missing section (did something eat it?), so I plucked off a bit and only then noticed the hairs/lashes underneath.
