Description

Voucher collection 10494dll was collected on11 November 2015 in redwood branchlet, grass, and moss humus near a path in the Community Forest, Cutten, Humboldt County, northwestern California. Sharon Squazzo obtained an ITS sequence for this collection and her analysis of indicated it was 100% match to that of Dll 10516 (iNat 177919933)
Microscopic Features of 10494dll
Basidiospores 5-6 distinct angles, consistently with a multiglobules, subisodiametric to heterodiametric, on the average heterodiametric, 8.5–11.0 × 6.5–8.5 μm (xavg = 9.8 × 7.3 μm; Q = 1.2–1.5; Qavg =1.34 ± 0.08; n = 26).
Basidia clavate and tapered to narrow or moderately broad base, typicallywith no granules, 34.0–47.0 × 9.5–13.0 μm (xavg = 39.8 × 11. 5 μm; Q = 3.01–4.16; Qavg = 3.52 ± 0.33; n = 20), typically 4–sterigmate, sterigma length 1.5–6. 5 μm (n = 15).
Gill tramal in cross sections of lamellae subparallel and slightly entangled, Subhymenium, Hymenium not measured.
Gill Edge fertile. Cheilocystidia and Pleurocystidia absent.
Pileipellis in radial sections of the pileus and in immature fruiting bodies as well as mature fruiting bodies, a palisadoderm on the pileus disc, and up to 12.0–105.0 μm deep (n = 17) with the larger number on the disc and smaller number at the pileus margin, in mature fruiting bodies the hyphae elements have the 3-5 terminal cells inflated, these are erect on the disc, semierect near the disc to midway to the pileus margin and prostrate at the margin; Pileocystdidia broadly cylindrical, broadly clavate and rarely clavate, 15.0–105.0 × 7.5–38.0 μm (xavg = 40.4 × 14.4 μm; Q = 1.1–6.9; Qavg =2.90 ± 1.29; n 40).
In longitudinal sections of the stipe, the Stipitipellis at the stipe apex is composed of an entangled layer of hyphae to 27.0–40.5 at the stipe apex with the terminal cells erect to typically semi-ereic, elsewhere the stipitipellis is a 3-5 hyphae cutis and 5–7μm (n = 8) deep; Caulocystidia cylindric to cylindrical, colorless 18.0–72.0 × 3.5–8.0 μm (xavg = 34.6 × 5.6 μm; Q = 3.8–11.6; Qavg = .28 ± 2.16; n = 13)..
Clamp connections absent in all tissues.
Pigmentation uniform and intracellular in the pileipellis and pileocystidia dark brown, intracellular and uniform, in 3% KOH, brown and not soluble in in 3% KOH, colorless in the hyphae of the lamellar trama, pileus trama and stipe trama; probably colorless in the stipitipellis.
Oleiferous hyphae rare to scatter to the pileus, stipe, and lamellar trama,
Lipoidal Bodies absent.

At edge of roadway in redwood duff. Smelled very bad. This was in Prairie Creek State Park, not near Hoopa; but the iNaturalist locator map insists it is Hoopa.
