Looks similar to a bolete we've had previously ID'd as this genus from our place. The cut surface failed to produce any staining in the couple of minutes I gave it, and the smell was mushroomy. Habitat on soil in grassy woodland.
Rapidly blues when damaged. Looks similar to Cyanoboletus pulverulentus but stipe seems thicker and cap colour more reddish brown than images of Australian specimens. Geographically very isolated from reported Cyanoboletus pulverulentus in Australia.
Velvety cap, no staining/bruising visible.
