Description

Durand White Oak observed along Little Walnut Creek in Dottie Jordan Neighborhood Park in Austin TX. The trunk had a small metal disk nailed to it, embossed with 4328 and then a hand-written number of 25.5. The tree was estimated as about 2' in diameter, and growing amidst other trees (mostly Cedar Elm). It is near another previously-reported observation of the same species: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/25504098
This other observation is of similar size, and is found in an area with 3 other large and 1 small specimens of the species, so this park affords an excellent place with public access to view this rare species.
