Starting to feel like fall

Temperatures are moderating and we've had a little rain here in the Sonoran Desert, so everything is green again. It's amazing how fast the plants respond to a little water. Time to plant wildflower seeds for spring! Wildflowers will attract native bees and other pollinators -- and you get to enjoy their beauty too. You can purchase wildflower seeds or use seeds you have collected.

Tucson Botanical Garden offers advice on how to sow wildflower seed and get started: https://tucsonbotanical.org/desertconnections/step-by-step.php

Butterflies everywhere

Starting to see butterflies everywhere, but no monarchs yet. The milkweed (Asclepias subulata here in Pinal County) are attracting Queen butterflies.

As for bees, we're not seeing too many photos of native bees right now, either!
