I'm a postdoctoral researcher in neuroscience, working on modeling the genetics of neurodegenerative disease using C. elegans. I'm also interested in evolutionary genetics, with a bit of taxonomy trivia on the side. I was raised in Texas, but have lived across the US. I've been a birder for 20-odd years and am a member of the Avian Records Committee of Connecticut. My birding is of course US-based, but I do have some experience in the Neotropics and the Eastern & Western Palearctic. I once accidentally poisoned myself with a poison dart frog (Oophaga pumilio).
