I am an environmental scientist who is teaching at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and my main research interest is wetlands and their ecology. Beyond that I have a broad interest in different animal and plant groups, also outside of the 'wet' realm. Even though I like to work on broad strategies for conservation, political ecology and green economics (I think incorporating green ways of thinking into the general economy is the true revolutionary project of our times), my favourite way to engage with nature is still simply try to record biodiversity in basic terms. My favourite groups are plants, dragonflies, butterflies and herpetofauna.
