Hi, I am a retired professor of biology and love to get out into nature. Since I live in El Paso, Texas, I focus more on desert plants and animals of the Chihuahuan Desert. I began photographing mainly desert plants about 20 years ago and several photos were published in several plant guides for Texas and on the Centennials Museum's Chihuahuan desert garden website of the University of Texas at El Paso. In 2009 I co-authored a book: Cacti of Texas in their natural habitat. In my biology labs, I experimented with the students on prickly pears for their possible use as pioneer plants for colonies in space, which gave us a great inside into their amazing resilience to cope with extreme conditions.
