I'm an urban patch birder on a continuous quest to document the birds of Brooklyn Bridge Park. My first 134 species spotted in the park are featured in my book 'Birding at the Bridge: In Search of Every Bird on the Brooklyn Waterfront.' My 2nd book, 'Find More Birds' just came out in August and features photos of birds from my patch and beyond.
I can't help but be fascinated by the insects that birds eat, the plants they use to nest and forage, and everything else that they interact with. I never knew becoming interested in birds would lead me to also become interested in insects—so much so that I would observe a praying mantis for over 2 hours in order to watch it capture and eat a honeybee. Most of my iNat observations are things seen while birding.
