I love photographing and identifying fungi, slime molds, insects, forbs, grasses, sedges, trees, amphibians and any other interesting things I find in nature. I have an interest in prairie, woodland, bog, and sand dune flora. I also have an affinity for Michigan's Northern White-Cedar/Birch forests. I particularly enjoy photographing and recording the biodiversity of insects within Coleoptera, Hymenoptera, Diptera, Lepidoptera, Hemiptera, and Odonata. I like identifying remnant ash tree populations. I’ve made several observations of insect species that were previously unidentified in Michigan. I'm self-taught utilizing a growth mindset and I'm nowhere near being on a professional’s level so I will incorrectly identify species from time-to-time. Every day is a new opportunity to learn more about the natural world around us.
