I taught ornithology at City College of San Francisco for over 40 years. I was a California Bird Records Committee member for 35 years most recently serving as chair. I received the 2010 Ludlow Griscom award from the American Birding Association. I co-authored two books on birds and published numerous scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals.
