I became interested in birding after attending the first South Dakota Birding Festival back in 2011. I had always loved nature and science, so birding was fascinating to me. I now enjoy participating in citizen science like eBird, SD data base, breeding bird surveys, Bald Eagle surveys, and now iNaturalist. I give presentations to student teachers, teachers and children across the state about birds and teaching. I enjoy photographing birds and have nearly 10,000 bird/nature photos on my Flickr site. I've contributed hundreds of photos to the BirdsEye app. Now I will do my part to help contribute to iNaturalist. I enjoy teaching young children about birds and have seen great results. My kindergartners are bird experts by the end of the school year. I also have an after school bird club for K-8 that meets weekly. I'm trying to spread the word about how interesting birds are and hopefully impress people enough that they will want to help with bird conservation.
