I'm a student at the University of Florida currently completing my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation. I'm a part of a research team focused on discovering whether Florida has the environmental conditions that would allow for African Swine Fever Virus to arrive in the States. As of yet, it has not been found in the U.S., but it could lead to severe environmental impacts and huge losses in the pork industry if it is. More can be found at https://www.fda.gov/animal-veterinary/safety-health/african-swine-fever

My plans are to apply to veterinary school after I complete my undergraduate. I have always been interested in veterinary medicine but have recently had the great opportunity of becoming more acquainted with conservation medicine and wildlife disease research. I also worked as an emergency veterinary technician and an intern at a wildlife rehabilitation center.

Besides academics, I love fishing and wildlife photography. I mainly enjoy photographing mammals, birds, and reptiles but I don't mind taking pics of insects and reef fish as well.
