I am a Forestry Engineer (Universidad Autónoma Chapingo, generation 1997), fond of botany since I was very young -the herbariums I made when I was 10 years old must be out there-, self-taught ever since and lucky enough to have had excellent teachers in the high school and college.
In iNaturalist I have found an inexhaustible source of resources to learn more about plants, the main one being user observations, many plants that I will hardly have the opportunity to see live, and the permanent need to document myself in order to accurately identify a species.
For some reason that I don't remember, I began to study Asteraceae. I know Mexican species quite well, and I have had the opportunity to learn about those from other countries. Although I do not limit myself to my favorite family, because I know quite well the flora of the Chihuahuan desert and to a lesser extent that of the Sierra Madre Occidental. The accumulated knowledge has given me the opportunity to identify plants professionally, although my daily work has little to do with this topic.
My goal at iNaturalist is to contribute to documenting the entire flora of Mexico and eventually that of the entire world. Beyond that, I would like this accumulation of observations to serve as the basis for building a flora of the world, dynamic and continuously growing. I will do everything in my power to achieve it.
