I am a small animal veterinarian and an amateur naturalist. I've completed the Master Gardener program and recently took the Vermont Master Naturalist course. I have been a birder since college and taught the Bird Sleuth curriculum to third graders in a local school for over 10 years. I got very interested in native plants about 15 years ago when I worked with a small group of citizens to create a community habitat certification with NWF in my former town. I continue my work to educate others on the benefits of gardening to create habitat for birds and insects. Most of my observations are done right on the land where I am lucky to live and steward. My land is certified as a wildlife Habitat, and is also recognized as a Monarch Waystation. I am also involved with Vermont Coverts- Woodlands for Wildlife, a peer networking program which supports landowners as they work to become better land stewards.
There is always something new to learn by observing!
