Although I am a biogeograph, since 1999 I work in the field of nature conservation at the Environmental Protection Agency in a county located near Carpathian Mountains. Beginning with 2002 we have founded together with several young researchers from the University of Bucharest a non-governmental organization and have founded the first research and preservation project of the carnivores (bear, wolf and lynx) in Romania. Since then, my team has developed professionally and has grown, attracting more and more young people involved in research and conservation. Along with them, we have completed the doctoral thesis and implemented many projects dedicated to conservation of bears, wolves and lynx in the Carpathian Mountains. Practically, we are involved day after day in monitoring, rehabilitation, communication and conservation of these carnivores both in areas managed by us (eg Soveja protected area) and in the midst of peasant, farmers or animal breeder communities. I developed and coordinated a monitoring and rehabilitation center for large carnivores in the Lepsa area of Vrancea Mountains.
