I have a lifelong profound interest in nature.

I grew up in northern Utah interested in herps and insects. My M.S. project was on Phrynosoma mcallii in the deserts of Imperial County, CA. I worked at the USFWS in Southern California for several years and spent time outside there. I did my PhD project in the Missouri River floodplain on Iowa on anurans and turtles. After my PhD I got into birding and eBird. I enjoy observing and identifying all species. I'm continually amazed at how iNaturalist can now quickly find a reasonable ID for many species, including obscure insects.

The Guide to Orthoptera of Iowa is complete: https://www.inaturalist.org/guides/14496. Hopefully it will help naturalists document some species that have been somewhat neglected.
