More Queenslanders join the GSB as City of Logan joins our campaign

Great Southern BioBlitz 2021 - City of Logan

The City of Logan will be taking part in this year’s Great Southern Bioblitz by hosting their own Great Southern Bioblitz 2021 - City of Logan event. The goal is for members of the community and visitors to the city to record as many species as possible during the event dates. Participants are encouraged to submit all observations of plants, animals, insects etc. and it doesn’t matter if they’re from the Conservation Areas, Parks or even your backyard. It all counts and helps to demonstrate the diversity of species that call the City of Logan home.
The City of Logan has a range of vegetation types including eucalyptus forest, wetland, vine scrub and even rainforest. These vegetation types provide habitat for a range of plants and animals including threatened species such as the Brush tailed rock wallaby, Greater glider, Glossy black cockatoo, Swamp tea tree, Flinders plum and many more.
With the wetter year that we’ve had in Logan, this spring is looking like it should be an excellent time to get out and explore your local area to discover what’s around so please get involved in this event.
There are currently 3,894 observations for Logan so let’s see if we can double that number over the bioblitz weekend.
Below is the Flinders plum which is an endangered rainforest tree. Logan is lucky enough to have a large population of these tree’s on it’s western boundary

A number of these Greater gliders have recently been recorded in certain parts of Logan.

This Chain fruit is common throughout Logan and is just one of the many interesting plant species you could find.
