Heads up: Some or all of the identifications affected by this split may have been replaced with identifications of Macrophylla. This happens when we can't automatically assign an identification to one of the output taxa. Review identifications of Magnolia macrophylla 165075

@wildlandblogger @esummerbell check my work here, especially the atlases. I removed Mexico, Florida, Indiana, and Missouri from M. macrophylla's atlas. There are currently 440 observations outside of the atlas ranges, but many of them are captive/cultivated.

Good, finally. I'm not sure exactly what the ones are in the cities in Florida...

This split does not accurately reflect POWO's treatment of the Mexican Macrophyllae; they recognize the restricted sense of M. dealbata.

Are you talking about M. nuevoleonensis? It was not a var of M. macrophylla, and thus was not split out.

What I'm saying is that since the split was effected by atlas, the other taxa in the Macrophyllae could have been taken into account at this stage, including M. nuevoleonensis, M. vovidesii, etc. A further atlas split of M. dealbata is now necessary.
