Dans notre site, il y a une punaise de la famille des Pentatomidae qui a deux noms scientifiques : Brochymena arborea et Parabrochymena arborea.

Or il s’agit du même insecte et le nom valide est Parabrochymena arborea.
Brochymena arborea est son ancien nom.
La raison de ce fait est simple : Bugguide

Faisons un petit histoire du genre Parabrochymena

En 1990, Larivière a décrit le nouveau genre en question dans sa thèse de doctorat de
l’Université McGill

Pour valider sa proposition, elle a rédigé deux articles :

Quelques années plus tard, deux chercheurs ont confirmé la découverte de Larivière en se basant sur les organes génitaux de ces insectes dans une revue d’entomologie :

Dans ce dernier article, trois espèces du genre Parabrochymena ont été replacées dans Brochymena (enigmatica, inbioet poeyi)

La publication suivante a mentionné l’unique espèce du genre en question dans deux provinces canadiennes.

Ensuite, on retrouve une série d’articles dans ce numéro du “The Great Lakes Entomologist” concernant les Pentatomoidea de quelques états américains pour rendre hommage à J. E. McPherson. Une espèce est désignée toujours par son nouveau nom, Parabrochymena arborea :

Finalement, le nom du même insecte n’a pas changé dans deux récents ouvrages canadiens

Cette liste de documents prouve que le site Bugguide est dans l’erreur avec l’ancien nom en se basant sur l’avis d’un expert et non sur un ou des articles scientifiques.
Rider (2012: The Heteroptera (Hemiptera) of North Dakota I: Pentatomomorpha: Pentatomoidea. The Great Lakes Entomologist 45:312-380) a dit :

"Brochymena was recently divided into two genera; the species having quadrate humeral angles were transferred to Parabrochymena (Larivière 1992). Acceptance of this divi­sion has not been universal, but it seems best to follow this classification until a more thorough study has been completed (see McPherson and Ahmad 2005, 2007, for further discussion)."

Malgré la controverse, le genre Parabrochymena reste correct tant et aussi longtemps que la littérature scientifique avancée n’affirmera pas le contraire.
En conséquence,Brochymena arborea doit être remplacé par Parabrochymena arborea.
